Our Mission
We are dedicated to providing a homelike atmosphere to Veterans who have proven their loyalty and patriotism by serving our country in foreign lands during time of war.

Who We Are, What We Are and What We Do
We are a 501 (c) (19) non-profit veterans organization owned and operated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Florida.

The Home is not subsidized by any governmental, federal, state or local agencies. The VFW Retirement Home opened in 1991 and has been in operation since. Cost of operations is met by the rental income which accounts for about 94-95% of our operating budget, with about 3% coming in as financial donations and another 2% revenue from the Home's fundraisers. Our guiding principle is to provide affordable, independent living accommodations to our veterans of foreign wars, as well as their qualifying spouses. Furthermore, we strive to provide an atmosphere that promotes independence, dignity, privacy and continuing opportunities for our residents, their family and friends.

The Home is spread out over 42 acres, and rests among tranquil oaks and palms towering with age and dignity, just like our veterans residing at the Home. You see, all who reside here have a story to tell and even more so have contributed in someway to our freedoms we enjoy today. We strive to become an integral part of the community and continue to build partnerships with veteran groups, local and state government, civic and fraternal organizations, along with churches and individuals.

During the hurricanes of 2004, the Home housed numerous families from the immediate area due to our availability of fresh water and electricity and was able to provide for those who needed special care, e.g., oxygen and hospital beds. We are proud that our facility is self sustained and has it own water treatment system and generator. Our belief is as we grow, so do our challenges and our possibilities. It is a most challenging and rewarding stewardship, that of helping your neighbor as you help those you are ordained to serve, the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and their dependents.

Since the opening of the Home’s new covered pavilion in March 2006, we have held, sponsored and/or hosted numerous events, community programs and fundraisers, i.e., our Easter Sunrise Service, Annual Country BBQ Picnic, Native American Veterans National Honor Society Pow Wow, Armed Forces Weekend Patriotic “Concert in the Forest” by the Kingdom of the Sun Concert Band, Bluegrass Fest, September 9-11 Remembrance and Tribute, Veterans Day programs, Christmas in Ft. McCoy, flea markets and more.
