John Knox Village is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) encompassing a full range of independent living, assisted living and nursing home options for more than 1,100 senior residents – all on one lush 64-acre campus of tropical landscaping and peaceful lakes in Pompano Beach on Southeast Florida’s Gold Coast. John Knox Village is a not-for-profit life-care retirement community accredited by The Continuing Care Accreditation Commission which reviews continuing care retirement communities nationwide.
Since 1967, the Village has attracted realistic seniors who plan for the future. John Knox Village offers lifetime housing, home maintenance, social activities and on-site nursing care.
As a Village resident, you will receive a contract for lifetime life-care. It entitles you to unlimited use of Gardens West – our beautiful Assisted Living Facility, and the John Knox Health Center – our highly-rated skilled and custodial care nursing center. Your entry fee assures you a lifetime of life-care without any time or financial limits on the services you receive.
Life Care
As a Village resident, you will receive a contract for lifetime life-care. This contract entitles you to the right to occupy one of our independent living apartments or villas. Should your needs change you have unlimited use of Gardens West, our assisted living facility, and our highly rated skilled and custodial care Health Center. Your entry fee assures you a lifetime of life-care without any time limits on the services provided.
Among life-care communities, John Knox Village has achieved a standard of excellence through accreditation by The Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. The Commission’s primary goal is to help consumers identify quality retirement communities.
To become accredited, the Village had to undergo a rigorous and extensive self-examination. The Village was measured against the stated mission and standards of excellence in the continuing care field.
The examination included an on-site evaluation by trained continuing care professionals of the Village’s finances, administration, resident life and health care. Every five years, since 1989, the Village has successfully undergone the rigorous process for re-accreditation. As one of the first communities to achieve accreditation in Florida, John Knox Village is one of a select group of only thirty communities to be accredited four consecutive times.
Village Life
Once you move to the Village most of your needs and services are included in your monthly fee. Village staff takes care of almost everything, so you have the time to enjoy the endless variety of activities, clubs, educational, and recreational opportunities available to you in the Village or in the surrounding area.
If you enjoy traveling, our activities staff arranges trips throughout South Florida, and extended tours throughout the United States, and abroad. We also regularly schedule trips to theaters, symphonies, shopping, libraries and restaurants.
When you move to the Village you have all the security of life-care, plus you can remain active within the greater community, so you can maintain all your professional and social contacts outside the Village.
Plus there is a bank branch in Cassels Tower, and medical offices and a pharmacy in the on-campus John Knox Professional Building.

There are so many things to do and enjoy at John Knox Village. Among the many facilities and opportunities are a rose garden, billiards, cards rooms, computer club, a men’s workshop, shuffleboard, horseshoes, putting green and heated swimming pool with jacuzzi. There is supervised exercise in the fitness center and water aerobics in the pool. Golf and tennis are played at nearby public and private clubs. Spiritual guidance is provided by our full-time Chaplain and weekly religious services are conducted within the Village. Transportation is provided to many area churches. The John Knox Professional Center is also located on campus – providing convenient medical attention as well as a pharmacy for medical supplies and medications.
